Try putting a 7 year old down for a nap.. no luck. We wanted the kids to nap this afternoon so we can go downtown with them tonight. HA! They stayed in their rooms for about an hour then cam and got George and I up.. yes we had to have a nap too so we could stay awake past 10pm. Amy is quite excited for our night out.. there should be fireworks (forcast calls for rain so who knows) and music.

Christmas pics

I hope everyone had a great Christmas!! Ours was pretty quiet due to being away from family this year. Its weird.. I had a headache that wouldn't go away pretty much since Monday.. I wasn't sleeping good AT ALL.. And I guess a bit cranky (ask George about that). Last night I slept so hard and feel 100% better. I guess I was homesick.. But didn't let myself actually kow that. I am glad its over. Not because George, the kids and I didn't have a good holiday.. But because I can feel better and not be as homesick as I was. Anyway.. Enough of that.. On to some pictures.

Jarret woke us up at 4am on Christmas morning.. So we let the kids do stockings at that time and shoved them off to bed. By 6am Jarret was up again and we waited until about 630 to wake Amy and George up. Presents were open and being played with by 730 and I was making French Toast. We had our supper and everything was awesome!!

In other news... My Smoothie Maker ROCKS!! We have been experimenting with it.. I think today I made my best one yet. It had frozen Strawberries, 1 banana, 1 Kiwi, and about 1/2 cup of plain yogurt. It was really yummy. We had Kahlua Milkshakes last night. And we are doing Margaritas this weekend.

I also did some Christmas baking last night. I made Butter Tarts and Confetti Squares. George was my taste tester because I cant have any until Christmas Eve and Christmas Day because of my "diet". He said everything tasted awesome so I am happy with that. I still have to make Sugar Cookies and Peanut Butter Balls then I'm done.

Off to give miss Amy a bath..

Anyway.. Bev and I have been friends for .. What?? 50 years?? Lol.. Its actually been about 14 years. We met in grade 9 and it didn't start out all that great. I think we got into an argument and she didn't talk to me for about 3 months. But in those 3 months I kept bugging her and pestering her to talk to me. I think that made her more mad. I seem to remember having fun with it though. But ever since then we have been friends. She is my best friend. We could go forever (cause she doesn't call..) without talking to eachother and once we (I call her) re connect we pick up where we left off.

Happy Monday

Been up since 5:30 because of this...

I cant explain how LOUD the alarm is in this building. It pierces my ears its so loud. It is now 6:54am and the alarm is STILL going off. Our suite smells like smoke now.. The fire is in the underground parking.. We are on the 17th floor!! The fire department advised all the residents to stay in their units. The fire trucks and EMT's and police cars are down to the next building. What a way to start off the week.

Christmas Preview

We had a dry run of Christmas morning today. We let the kids open 2 gifts from me and George!! What is that about?? We are as bad as the kids sometimes. The funny thing is they haven't been bugging us AT ALL to open any gifts. They both opened they're Floam. Jarret opened his B Dman Yatzee and Amy opened her Troll doll. I honestly expected us to let them open a gift on Christmas Eve but a week before?? Oh well.. We are away from home and we can do what we want!! I also opened my gift from the kids. I got a Smoothie Maker. I am SOOO excited for that. I have been wanting a blender since I started my weight loss program almost 2 moths ago. We walked to the store to get some stuff to make smoothies.. Cant wait.

If anyone out there has any Smoothie recipes that would be awesome. We are going to make up our own for now.

"Yes" I said back at her

"My son told me that Amy is pink and she cant eat nuts" she says to me laughing

I chuckled with her and she said she asked him,

"What do you mean she's pink?

"She Always wears pink!!"

This is the same boy who's mom at the beginning of the year asked what my daughters name was cause her son wanted to know. How cute is that??

Parent Teacher Interview.. sorry kinda long

Today was Jarrets Parent Teacher Interview. I was looking forward to it like I do every year. This year especially because he had to adjust to so much. George took the day off so he could be there. We met the teacher for the first time. She was hired about a month ago because the grade 2 French Immersion classes were way too big. Jarret was in a class of 30 kids and 1 teacher. Since he was switched I have noticed a big difference in his attitude towards school, a good difference. Anyway...

She went over his report card with us.. (which really wasn't all that great). He does very well in Gym and Music though. So as the meeting went on she pulled out some of his work. There was about 4 different things she showed us.. And I am not kidding when I say that EVERYTHING was incomplete!!! NOT HAPPY!! George stood there with a not so happy look on his face.. I felt myself feeling very crappy as the teacher spoke about how Jarret doesn't focus.. How Jarret's printing isn't great.. How he comprehends French but cant write it or read it..

She did suggest that we get his hearing and eyes checked out because that may be a possibility why he isn't completing any of his work. I did ask if he socializes too much in class and if that could be why he isn't completing any of his work.. She said he isn't disruptive or he isn't distracted by visiting too much. There are a few things we can do at home to help him with his printing and reading obviously. If there is nothing wrong with his hearing or eyes then its all up to him to focus in class.

So George and I found ourselves giving him the "pull up your socks by next report card or else" speach.. lol.. Man If I didn't feel like a "real" parent before I sure did today. After we had our talk with him I told George I need to call my mom and apologize for all the parent teacher interviews she walked out of feeling the way I did today. And believe me there were plenty.. More about my "talking too much" but still.

I was really upset today. I know he is a smart kid and he means well.. I just hope we got through to him today about how important it is to do your best and focus on school work.

Amy's Parent Teacher is on Monday.. I already know I am going to hear about her "timeouts" but I am looking forward to hearing what the teacher has to say about her.

For the first time EVER we have the kids presents bought and wrapped under the tree before December 24th. I am not kidding about that. Every single year George and I start shopping on December 22nd and wrapping presents on Christmas Eve. It feels so good to have the kids done all ready. I still have to do stocking stuffers for them but that will be a piece of cake. We are finishing up everything this weekend so we can get the Winnipeg gifts out on Monday. I am a little worried about Amy's Santa gift. She asked for The Interactive Princess Genevieve Let's Dance Doll from Santa. Well Santa got it for her, which is all fine and dandy.. But you all remember last year's Santa debacle?? She asked for Cinderella from Santa and Santa came through. But a few days before Christmas she changed her mind.. And wanted a Dora doll instead. Not a happy girl. She cried. My heart broke. I felt awful. So we'll see what happends this year. Jarret is going to be VERY VERY happy with his Santa gift. He asked for N Sect and Santa again came through. I don't think Santa wanted to really spend that kind of money but.. He did and we will have a very happy boy on our hands.

So tonight the 4 of us are going to see Aladdin at the Elgin Theater. I think I might be the only one who is really looking forward to it.

We finally got our first snow fall on Saturday.. But by the time we left the house to go shopping it was already melted. It is cold today. Low of -12! This is the first time this season that I will complain on how cold it is. Jarret was all bundled up today.. And Amy is heading back to school after being home for a week because she was sick. She has been missing school and is very excited to go back today.

George and I upgraded our digital cable box for an HD PVR cable box on Saturday. The HD is so nice to have back, and the PVR is very cool. We can pause TV.. Record it.. Rewind.. Or fastforward!! Let me tell you we had so much fun with it this weekend.

Our poor Jakey is very sick with Pneumonia. He has been admitted to the hospital since Friday, and is there until at least today. He has Pneumonia in both lungs and was in a lot of pain in his tummy. I hope you are feeling better today bud!!!

I want a puppy. I have wanted a puppy since we moved here. I want a small dog like in the picture. This is a Shih-Poo. How cute is he?? Or a Shih Tzu would be good too.. This is what I am asking Santa for. So any Santas out there???

Ok.. now that I have that out of my system. We took Amy to the doctor today. $125.00 later in medication... but at least she will get better. We can claim that with George's drug plan from work. The doctor suggested we get a ventolin machine for our house so when she gets into an attack we wont have to head to the emergency room. The machine its self is covered but we would have to pay for the medicine. Which again we could claim. We will most likely get it in the new year. She is on so many meds right now, we will let them do their job for now. She is to stay home from school for the rest of the week too.

I put the Christmas Tree up yesterday and the kids decorated it. Amy has a doctors appointment tomorrow because her asthma is acting up again. She needs puffers. Jarret had quite the barky cough this morning.. so maybe he will be coming with us to the doctor tomorrow.

I have a headache because I had a few sips of wine last night. Man that sucks. It was good wine too. I haven't done any exercises this week. Bad me. Yesterday I cleaned and had a workout that way. Today my head is pounding. Maybe I will do some pilates later, I don't think doing aerobics with a headache will make me feel any better. I have to get back on the workout wagon.

Well.. That's it.. I am off to take more pills and drink more water.

We have a quiet weekend again. George is working all weekend so its just me and the kids. I will have to find something for us to do so we dont kill eachother.

First thing... LOVE the new look!! Of course all thanks to George. I love having my own personal IT/Web designer. I told him what I wanted a few days ago.. And here it is. Again George.. YOU ROCK!!

Today is my official weigh in.. I am down another 1/2 pound!! I was hoping it would be more.. But I'm just thankful I didn't gain. I haven't been as "strict" as I should be.. So now its time to pull up my socks and really work on losing more this week. I need to drink more water again.. I kinda slowed down. I am still exercising every day. I walked 4km yesterday. I am quite proud of that.

I tried a recipe yesterday for Oatmeal Macaroons. And they really didn't turn out all that great.. lol. I took some pictures and sent them to my mom, Char and Chris. I will not be sharing because its pretty bad. I was laughing so hard over the entire debacle, I had tears running down my face. I called George at work and the poor guy couldn't understand a word I was saying. At least I can laugh about it. Right? I figured out that I need a new cookie sheet and a new measuring cup.

Jarret got his pictures back yesterday. What a handsome boy I have. Really I'm not saying that because I am his mother.. He really is a good looking kid!! Lol. George is taking the picture to work to scan so I can post it.

Amy is still peeing her pants. She hasn't done it at school again.. But she does it at home. Does it mean anything that her pee smells really bad?? Sorry to be so gross but it does. I will call the doctor today.

Help part 2

I need advice. We are having some problems with Amy and her bladder contol. If you dont remember my first plee for help read here. It all started after school one night last week. I was trying to get her out of her school uniform for supper. She said she had to pee and when she turned around she peed her pants. She was watching tv when this happened. She didn't say a word to me I had to ask her about it. Ok.. So I chalked it up to her being pre occupied. I wasn't pleased but let that one go. A few days later I picked her up from school. All is good, I waved to the teacher she ran up to me hugged me and we were on our way home. She ran ahead of me when I noticed her pants were all wet between the legs. I asked her about it. And she responded by "dont worry mom, no one saw" Needless to say I was not impressed and she knew it. We had a talk once I cooled down and I told her that when she is awake there is no reason she shouldn't be going on the potty. (I guess I should mention that she still wets her bed at night). Her wetting her bed at night I can accept because I know some kids are bed wetters.. Ok fine. Not when they are wide awake in the middle of the day. She peed her pants twice this weekend in the middle of the day. I asked her if it hurts to pee.. She said no. I asked her if she feels it when she pees she said no.

I was getting upset but then thought maybe its a medical reason. I am going to call the doctor today and get her an appointment. I need to know if its her being lazy or if she really cant help it. I dont know which one of the two I want it to be. I dont want something wrong with her.. But I dont want her to be acting out or anything either. So frustrating... Any advice please I am open to hearing anything...

Ok.. So yesterday we went to the grocery store and Jarret told me that he doesn't know how people get "charged up". I want too sure what he was getting at.. So I told him our heart keeps us alive. He responded a bit frustrated and said he knows that but he doesn't know how people get... How people.... (you can tell at this point he was getting VERY frustrated) so finally he said " I just dont know how babies get into moms stomachs!!" Uhh.... I told him we would talk about it at home since its a private conversation and we shouldn't have it in the middle of Fortino's grocery store. So.. Once at home I told George what Jarret asked me. George smiled and said ..

"I cant wait to hear this Jenn"

So I started out not very well. I was a bit red in the face... I was stumbling over my words.. kinda laughing. I think I went a bit too far with my explanation because at one point George whipped his head around and gave me a weird look.. oops.

When I was done screwing my kid up.. George and I told Jarret that what was just discussed does not get talked about with his friends at school. If he has any questions about anything he can come to me or his dad. He seemed to be ok with that. Phew.. Didn't see this conversation coming for a few more years.

Ok.. This was too long .. My apologies to everyone..lol. That's it for today..

How old are you again??? Oh yah, older then me!! Tee hee!!

Just a little update for those I haven't told (which is probably no one)!! My weight loss program is working out pretty well for me so far. In the two weeks I have been working on living healthier I have lost 8 pounds. I have cut out my junk food and have been exercising every day. I am obsessed with counting calories and counting carbs. I concentrate more on the calories right now but once I have that down I will look after everything else. I am feeling so much better about myself and no headaches so far!! For those of you that don't know.. I get really bad migraines and for a while it was almost at least one every week if not more. So I am very happy about this change in my life. All is good here!!

New Header

I didn't forget to mention my new header on my previous post.. I wanted to do a separate post about it. George did this for me. I told him about a month ago that I needed a new look and he said he would work on it. But then he got so incredibly busy he couldn't do it until now. I LOVE IT!! I couldn't be happier how it looks. He is so good at this stuff. I think I will keep him around for a while longer!! Thanks George you rock!!!!

Happy Birthday Jen H!! Jen and I have been friends since Kindergarten. I remember in grade 2 I had a sleepover for all the girls in my class. Jen was invited. And her dad walked her to my house. She was so shy. Her dad talked my parents and told them that she was a little nervous and shy. So we tried to make her as comfortable as we could. I think it worked!! We were in the same class from Kindergarten through to grade 5. She was Jen H and I was Jenn S. My dad use to call us Jenn squared, or Jenn to the power of 2!! Lol.. wow pretty cheesy!! Anyway,we lost touch after grade 5, I went to a different school for grade 6,7 and 8. But in grade 9 we met up again. We have stayed friends over the years. We may not talk all the time.. its hard cause I am no longer in the same city. But she will always be my friend and I think/hope I will always be hers!!

Here is missy before we went out last night. Doesn't she look cute? Well.. What an amazing show last night. I knew it would be good but it was better then I thought. The Rockettes were AMAZING!! They made it look so easy. I wanna be a Rockette. There was Santa.. Mrs. Clause.. singers.. dancers.. elves a live Nativity.. Christmas Trees.. Christmas songs.. you name it!! I want to go again. November is National Diabetes Month..

When Emma was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes I really didn't know what that meant. I thought ok.. She needs needles every day for the rest of her life and she cant eat candy anymore. Its not that I thought it wasn't a big deal or anything its just I didn't know anything about it. I am learning a lot about it from your blog Chris. I was very happy to know that she could still be a kid and eat candy. Of course that's one of the first things I thought of because being her Auntie its my job to bring her treats when I come to visit. I just wanted to let you guys know we are thinking about you out here and I will continue to learn more.

I have been totally obsessed with my new weight loss plan. I check EVERYTHING to see how many calories it contains. How many carbs and fat. This is new to me so its kinda taken over my brain. I just hope I keep it up. I have only been doing it for about 4 days and I already feel better. I know I haven't loss anything yet but I feel good about myself. So that's a start right?

Yesterday was the first time in about 2 weeks George has been home. So we are all up in the morning.. About to make breakfast and his cell phone rings. Its the Argos, they have a problem with one of the ticketing booths at the box office. So George has to go down to fix whatever the problem is. So we decide to get ready and go with him. When we get there its all good. Whatever was broken isn't anymore. So we just hung out for a bit to make sure everything is ok. Then we were offered tickets for the game because George came in and we were all in tow. Supper nice!! So we got to watch The Bombers vs Argos! Kinda cool. Jarret was torn didn't know who to cheer for. We got to our seats and there was Bomber fans all around us so it made it easier to cheer for them. Unfortunately they lost. It was amazing how loud it was though when the Argos won! Very cool. We will be cheering them on for the Grey Cup!!

Today I stepped on the scale which I HATE doing cause I know I have gained a lot of weight since moving here. And I am at the heaviest I have EVER been. Even pregnant I wasn't this heavy. So I am going to do something about it. I cant really afford to go to the gym. I do have some workout videos at home I have done here and there. So I found this website and I signed up right away. I put in my current weight, then put in my goal weight and when I want to meet this weight. It gave me the amount of calories I can have each day.. It gave me meal plans and a fitness plan. I told a few people about it in hopes we can do it together cause it would be that much easier for motivation.

Happy Halloween!!

Its 4:41pm and waiting for George to come home so we can go Trick or Treating!! I am SO EXCITED!!! For real.. I think I am more excited than the kids are. I love it. I love it more then I did when I was a kid going out. It was always so bloody cold. Its beautiful here today.. the temp is 15C right now with NO SNOW!! The kids are having a quick bite before we head out. I will be posting pictures later.

Quiet

It was a nice quiet weekend. We went to an Outlet Mall in Mississauga on Saturday and got some good deals. George bought 3 pairs of workpants for $17!! Nice. Amy and I got runners, mine were $17 and hers were $5. She also got her ears pierced so it was a productive day. Jarret got the short end of the stick but he really doesn't need anything right now. We will make it up to him.

We were home by 7:30 watched X Men 3 and I watched half of The Break Up. Loved X Men.. And I actually liked The Break Up (when I finished Sunday morning). George has been super busy with work the last week and so he was in the office by 9am so it was just the kids and I all day Sunday. We watched Curious George, which I thought was cute. I have always liked Curious George though. I baked some brownies and we just hung out.. it was nice.

Both kids probably shouldn't watch any more Halloween Specials on YTV I had both of them in my room with bad dreams last night. Amy twice and that is a first! I woke up this moring at 6:45 and heard the TV.. Came into the living room and there was Jarret laying on the couch watching TV. He said he was up at 6:10!! This time change is going to kill him by the end of the week. I was in bed at 9:15pm last night.. lol. Old lady that I am.

Well that's it for now I suppose..

Jarrets fun night with dad

George and Jarret went to the Raptors game on Sunday. They were in a suite. Jarret thought it was great! It was a surprise for Jarret. He didn't know he was going to the game until George handed him his ticket. Ever since we have moved to Toronto Jarret always asks us about 2 things. 1.The Air Canada Center
2.The CN Tower
So he was pretty excited about getting to go in the ACC for the game. He ate Skittles, peanuts and a big Raptors theme glass of 7-up.

Ok.. Not only did he get to see The Raptors at the ACC George took him to the CN Tower after the game..Also another surprise.

When they got home Jarret was grinning from ear to ear. He couldn't stop talking about his night with his dad. I really think it hurt him not to smile.. He was one happy boy..

What a weekend..

This was at Spooktakular at Canada's Wonderland. We planned on having one weekend where we actually stayed home and chilled.. That's a joke. George called on Friday afternoon to say he got tickets to Mickey's Magic Show. So once the kids got home we hopped a but then 2 subways and headed downtown to go to The Hummigbird Theater for the show. The kids were pretty excited but I thought Amy was going to have stroke she was so excited. We got there early and had to wait for the doors to open she didn't understand why we weren't sitting in our seats. The show was excellent. All the princesses were there. Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck, Daisy, Goofy.. Everyone. Oh ya, the magic part was cool too..lol. I brought my camera to take pictures but was told that Disney would confiscate the cameras if they caught anyone taking pictures. So unfortunately none to show.

So then yesterday we headed to Spooktakular with the kids in their costumes. Jarret is a Ninja (again) and Amy is Sleeping Beauty. They had all the kids rides going and as you can see from the above pictures they met a lot of characters from some of their favorite shows. We arrived at 11am and left at 430pm.. We were all very exhausted. We had a very good weekend.

George is heading off to The Raptors game tonight. A guy from his office had a ticket but couldn't make it. So he offered it to George to take Jarret.. But he cant find his ticket. So they are trying to figure out something so Jarret can go. They will be in a suite for the game. I hope it works out Jarret can go.. He will LOVE it.

Happy Birthday Jakey

Its Jakeys birthday today! He is the big 4. I called him this morning to sing Happy Birthday to him and as soon as I was done he told me all about his presents. And that he is bringing "muffins" to school for his class! Muffins meaning cupcakes. I was trying to upload some pictures of him but for some reason I can not. So if I can later I will. So.. Have a good day Jakey.. Love you and miss you lots!!

Hockey Hall Of Fame on Saturday... it was fun.. Amy told us how bored she was from time to time but she survived



Jarret was so excited to be there.. I was a little shocked on how excited he was.. he is just getting into hockey. He LOVES the Oilers and was pointing out all the Oilers stuff..

And of course some birthday pictures.. He loved everything everyone got him.. so THANK YOU!! I checked on him in bed last night and he fell asleep with his Blue Jays baseball glove and Blue Jays baseball beside him.. He's a Jays fan.. (please ignore the ugly boxes in the background.. we are still trying to organize our house... )

Happy Birthday Jarret

Jarret is 7 (well on Sunday just wanted to post tonight). In a lot of ways I cant believe he is 7 and then I think OMG.. He's only 7?? He is such a good kid. He is funny, caring, smart, sensitive, creative, cuddly, shy, but very chatty with people he knows, and a mamma's boy. I cant help but baby him sometimes. George is always after me cause I do more than I should for him and he is in grade 2. I am doing my best to cut the apron strings its hard though. I will try harder.

So we went to The Hockey Hall Of Fame today. I will post pictures later just wanted to say Happy Birthday to my boy. Love you Jarret!!

Miss Emma

Emma is the youngest Grandchild,Niece,Cousin in our little family, and has been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. What a shock to get that news last Friday night. This is not going to be a long post because I don't know what I could say. I usually do have a lot to say about everything, but this time is different. I just wanted to say that all the way from TO we are thinking about you Emma.. we miss you and love you lots!! Big big hugs from Auntie, Uncle George, Jarret and Amy...

Happy Birthday Amy Vicotoria!!

I can’t believe my baby is 4!! How did that happen? We are heading to London then Marineland and will be there all day. We are probably going to hang out at Niagara Falls after because on Sunday nights they have fireworks over the falls. I baked a cake and we are will bring it with us and have cake and she can open her presents at Marineland. It should be fun. Its going to be weird not having a party with family. I guess we have to make our own traditions.
