Another night at the ER with missy and her asthma. Poor kid.

I got home from work.. ate supper quickly and off to the hospital. She was taken in right away. She was given 3 Ventolin masks and some pediapred. We were there for about 6 hours.

She went to bed.. awoke about 1 hour later coughing (barking is more of what she sounded like) and i was in her room giving her more Ventolin.

Thank goodness I am off today because I am working on about 5 hours of broken up sleep. She is not going to school today. She needs to rest.

Tired.

Worried about my girl.

Going to bed now.

Asthma is a scary thing to deal with. I know not only children, but adults who have it and know how deathly serious it can get.

I hope she feels better today. She's a kid...they bounce back so fast.

Thanks Shannon!

I wish I could bounce back as fast as kids can when they get sick :)

Ugh, Jenn - Brooke has asthma. I feel your pain. We're coming up on allergy time around here and I am DREADING it so much. End of October and all of November is hell for her and her asthma. We're trying some new stuff this year and hopefully it'll help. (have you guys tried singulair? If so, any success with it?).

Anyhow, hope she has a better day tomorrow and you all get some much needed sleep. Hang in there :)

Thanks Jamie. We did have her on Singular for a while but it didnt seem to work. We took her off of it (our own doing) and she seemed to be ok. But I really dont know if taking her off of it made things better. I think you are right its this time of year. The entire winter will most likely be like this anytime she gets a runny nose or cold she has an asthma attack.

I just feel bad for her and anyone else who suffers with it. She has been off and on all day but she is a trooper!

I hope Brooke doesnt have too much trouble with it in the next little while!

Oh I know, winter in general sucks but there is something about november that is hardest on her. Brooke has a tendency to cough until she vomits. My big fear is her throwing up at school all the time. Exercise will most definitely induce a cough attack and her inhalers just don't do a darned thing to stop or prevent this. So her ped gave us some samples of singulair to try so we're hoping that it helps. Cold air also triggers it - recess time, then coming in an coughing her brains out (puking again). So, yeah, I'm scared for all of that stuff (and colds always exacerbate things so much worse).

It's scary when your kid can't breathe. I can't imagine what it feels like :( Scary. The doc said there are other options out there though if the singulair doesn't work for her, so who knows - we may have to look into it, we'll see how it goes *sigh*.

Kids are amazing though - they are much stronger than adults are (in my mind lol lol).
